Post 2: AR application to multi-media teaching

Today, we will explore the application of AR applications in the education field.

First of all, what is AR Application:

Augmented reality (AR) makes the real environment around us a digital interface by placing virtual objects in real-time. Unlike virtual reality, augmented reality uses an existing environment and overlays new information on top of it, while virtual reality creates a completely artificial environment. Augmented reality can be seen through various experiences. Recent developments have made the technology accessible via smartphones, and a variety of augmented reality applications have been developed (“8 Examples of Augmented Reality Apps and their Successful Uses”, 2017).

What are the benefits of AR app in education?

AR APP makes the learning process more fun. Students like to use electronic devices for any learning, but augmented reality can improve their participation. For example, the video appears immediately after scanning the image, which makes learning more interactive and adds a little bit of fun to the routine practice process. AR technology is also very flexible. No matter what the content is, teachers can scan a picture from a textbook and link it to a video: whether it’s on YouTube, a documentary, or a video they made.

This is a infographic I made about AR apps, which includes examples of AR apps used in the education field, and some of the operation methods, welcome to read!

  1. Thank you for your post. I was interested in your thoughts around AR. Next week please add multimedia content such as your infographic or screen cast.

  2. Hi Lexi,

I liked your blog on AR application to multi-media teaching. The post talks of augmented reality and its application to multimedia. The post is well done because it combines two multimedia tools in form of infographics and two YouTube videos. The infographic was quite educative and gave concise information of Augmented Reality. The infographic followed the multimedia learning principles of spatial and temporal contiguity, coherence, and self-explanation. Nonetheless, I believe your post repeats information on augmented reality because he explains augmented reality in the infographic then repeats the same information in the blog.
